Another Awesome Ford Plantation Trip

fishing, Ford Plantation
Ford Naturalist Mike Womble took out Doug Coltharp and his son Ted on a fishing adventure. The task was to catch fish and have a great time doing it. Mission accomplished!!! Ted caught a dozen fish, whiting, stingrays, and several sharks--this Atlantic sharpnose shark was the largest. They all had a great time, seeing dolphins, gators, and hundreds of shorebirds.

Greenans Are Ford’s 2012 Couples’ Golf Champions

Eleven couples recently competed to be crowned our annual Couples’ Golf Champions. The format was a 9–hole best ball on the front nine and a 9–hole scramble match on the back 9. After 18 holes, the teams of Greenan and Shafer/Budde were in a tie for the lead. The outcome was decided by a chip-off from the event lawn to #18 green where the Greenans edged out their competition to win the match. Congratulations Greenans!

Join the Fun! Kayaking at Ford

Ford member Jim Tamarack recently took this photo of Jack Gillespie, Kim Gillespie, and Cheryl Chip (left to right) kayaking on the Ogeechee River and Silk Hope Canal. Using a kayak to explore The Ford Plantation is the ultimate way to get close to wildlife. Kayaks are low profile and sleek, which make them the perfect platform for wildlife viewing. Ford maintains four kayaks and four canoes for members’ use, and we provide guided trips exploring the Ogeechee River and nooks and crannies of Sterling Creek.
