Sensitive land use, protected habitat, and a teeming population of shrimp in Lake Clara assure a seasonal parade of rare migratory birds and frequent sightings of indigenous wildlife. A particular favorite with children, the Wildlife Interpretative Center at the Oyster House has an observation deck, turtle pens, and an owl barn for injured birds of prey.

Off-site excursions to the barrier islands and Okefenokee Swamp are available to interested members.
