The beauty of The Ford Plantation and the Georgia Low Country is both grand and intimate, revealing endless surprises to those who know where and how to look. Our naturalist guides private and group explorations of the estate’s richly diverse ecosystems. Sensitive land use, protected habitat and a teeming population of shrimp in Lake Clara assure a seasonal parade of rare migratory birds and frequent sightings of indigenous wildlife. A particular favorite with children, the Wildlife Interpretive Center at The Oyster House has an observation deck, turtle pens and an Owl Barn for injured birds of prey. Off-site excursions to the barrier islands, and Okefenokee Swamp are available to interested members.
