In the company of our own guides, fishing is nearly as much fun as catching.  We do plenty of catching, too.  The Ford Plantation has a generous share of one of the finest fishing habitats in the Southeastern United States.  We have six freshwater lakes, four miles of Ogeechee River frontage and access to the Intracoastal Waterway, nearby Ossabaw Sound and the Atlantic.  Tarpon, sea trout, redfish, shad and striped bass are abundant along the river.  Flatboat fishermen on the lakes and ponds take largemouth bass, black bass, crappie, and blue gill.   Our Tarpon Tournament is one of the most thrilling annual events in the waters of coastal Georgia.  In the colorful history of The Ford Plantation, there is always room for another fish story.

Marina

Twenty nautical miles from the Intracoastal Waterway, on the Ogeechee River along a network of pristine creeks and scenic canals, the Yacht Basin is an expanded, modern descendant of one built for Henry Ford’s cabin cruiser, Little Lulu.  Yachts of up to 65 feet are accommodated with all the modern conveniences, yet the Marina retains the unpretentious charm of a coastal village.  The new Ogeechee Outfitters marina store is authentic right down to the sign for "boled peenuts," and there is a screened party room perfect for feasting on your catch.
